FAQs

What is Coverdashery?

Coverdashery is a curated visual research tool for cover designers. It brings together album, single, and book cover artwork so designers can quickly scan the marketplace, spot patterns, and gather creative direction before beginning a project.

Who is Coverdashery for?

Coverdashery is built primarily for designers, art directors, creative teams, marketers, authors, artists, publishers, labels, and anyone involved in cover design.

What can I use it for?

You can use Coverdashery to:

  • Research current visual trends

  • Find inspiration for typography, color, layout, and imagery

  • Compare cover directions across music and publishing

  • Check whether a new design concept feels too visually similar to existing work

  • Build stronger creative briefs and moodboards

Does Coverdashery create cover designs?

No. Coverdashery does not generate or create covers. It is a research and inspiration tool designed to help people make better creative decisions.

Where does the cover data come from?

Coverdashery uses publicly available metadata and artwork from external sources. Current data sources may include music databases, book metadata services, and other public cover reference sources. Source links are provided where available.

Are the covers owned by Coverdashery?

No. The cover artwork shown belongs to the original rights holders, publishers, labels, artists, authors, designers, and/or distributors. Coverdashery displays cover artwork for visual research, discovery, and reference purposes.

Can I download or reuse the cover artwork?

No. Coverdashery is for research and reference only. Do not download, copy, republish, or reuse cover artwork unless you have the proper rights or permission from the rights holder.

Why are some tags or filters incomplete?

Coverdashery is still growing. Some covers may not yet have complete visual tags such as color, typography, visual type, or style. As the database improves, filters will become more consistent and useful.

Why do some covers look incorrect or low quality?

Some artwork comes from third-party metadata sources, which can occasionally include incorrect images, low-resolution artwork, interior pages, back covers, alternate editions, or mismatched metadata. We are actively improving data quality.

Can I report a bad image or incorrect listing?

Yes. Use the Contact / Feedback page to report bugs, incorrect artwork, wrong metadata, missing information, or anything that looks off.

Can I suggest a feature?

Absolutely. Feedback is welcome, especially from designers and creative teams using Coverdashery in real workflows.

Is Coverdashery finished?

Not yet. Coverdashery is currently an early version and will continue improving with more sources, better tagging, stronger filters, and a larger library of current covers.

Who runs Coverdashery?

Coverdashery is an independent visual research project created to help designers study the cover design marketplace more efficiently.
